BASIC WICCA Q&A
What is Wicca?
As per a definition on this site: A modern Pagan religion with spiritual roots in the earliest expressions of reverence for nature. Some major identifying motifs are: reverence for both the Goddess and God; acceptance of reincarnation and magick; ritual observance of astronomical and agricultural phenomena; and the use of magickal circles for ritual purposes.
What do Wiccans do?
The same thing everyone does - live. Since each Wiccan practices the Craft in a unique way, the best I can do is give a generic statement about what Wiccans do:
We revere the Goddess and the God in all Their forms. We celebrate 8 Sabbats in the year - the Wheel of the Year. We practice magick - "the art of changing consciousness by will." We recognize that each piece of the world is connected to every other piece; therefore, the whole of our law is "an ye harm none, do what ye will." We also know that what we send out will come back to us three times - so whether you send out positive energy or negative energy is certainly up to you, but bearing in mind that it comes back threefold - who would bother with negative, harmful energy?
How do I become Wiccan/a Witch?
Study. Wearing lots of jewelry, black clothing, etc. and spouting spells at people won't make you a Witch - the only thing that makes a Witch is what a Witch does. So start off with some good books, learn about the Craft, and then if you decide you're ready, you can dedicate yourself.
